Marguerite Howarth lived locally and kept her sketchbook with her at home in Surrey, on holiday abroad and once retired, in Yorkshire, painting as she went. This exibition will explore the work of this talented artist, starting with her commercial work and turning to precise architectural pen and ink drawings following her move to Woking. There are eight drawings of Chobham.

The exhibition is on at the Lightbox gallery in Woking. For more details and opening times visit the Lightbox website. Entry to the exhibition is free, but donations are welcome.

On the 10th September at 1.00pm there will be a talk by local historian, Phillip Arnold, on the life and work of this Surrey artist who painted at home, on holiday and in retirement. Numbers are limited, so advance booking is required (01483 737837).

The exhibition will transfer to the Guildford House gallery in Guildford (visit the guildford House website for directions) for November 2013. There will also be a display of Mrs Howarth's pen and ink drawings of local buildings in the Search Room at Surrey History Centre during October 2013 (for details and opening times visit the Surrey History Centre website).
